Interior designer Robert Frank’s small retail storefront houses a carefully edited collection of furniture, lighting, art, accessories, and gifts. This is the place to find chic simplicity for casual living, with finds like rustic dinnerware, handmade ceramic accessories, raffia furniture and handblown glassware. As with Frank’s design style, the shop is inspired by the California coast and indoor-outdoor living. Summerhome also carries a full line of custom natural fiber rugs and throw pillows.
My vision was to create a resource for customers where they could find unique, handmade pieces which have an artistic quality. It’s a collection of my own personal favorites and things that I would have in my own home.
Summerhome was created out of Frank’s desire to bring unique furniture, lighting, accessories, and gifts to Pasadena. As an interior designer practicing in the Pasadena area, I discovered the need for a such a resource. My goal was to create a shop that highlights unique designs with equal importance on interesting materials and quality craftsmanship.
Our selection of furniture, home furnishings, artwork and gifts is selected with with the goal of being timeless and unique. We also offer in-house design services. Whether you are looking for design assistance to fit new furnishings into an existing design, or looking to furnish an entire home, Summerhome has all of the resources that you need.
I am inspired by the Southern California lifestyle and I strive to integrate a fresh informality into every space I design. In all of my projects I contrast textures, fabrics, colors and finishes in an effort to make each space unique and beautiful yet functional and comfortable. I utilize my knowledge of furniture, textiles and finish materials to specify furnishings and finishes that will be functional in design and timeless in style.
My design aesthetic holds influence from details of original Cape Cod design, transformed to function and work harmoniously with the California lifestyle. The California Cape Style is the perfect blending of traditional and contemporary design that works so perfectly with many of Southern California’s homes and historic properties.
